The 1906 McKim building at the Morgan Library & Museum, designed by the architect Charles Follen McKim to be J. P. Morgan’s personal office and library, will reopen on Saturday after a $4.5 million restoration.
For Morgan, the building represented “the softer, gentler side of his imperial presence,” Holland Cotter writes. “This freshened-up portion of the Morgan really does inspire oohing and aahing.”
